After years of sessions while living in New York, L.A. and Nashville, Texas native Rett Smith returned to the Lone Star State, and released his solo album 'What The Walls Cannot See' as the proper follow up to his 2020 LP 'Giving Up On Quitting' which earned "Best New Music" nods from American Songwriter, No Depression, and FLOOD, among others.

Featuring a dark Americana sound steeped in his West Texas roots, 'What The Walls Cannot See' produced three album singles including premiere track "The Hook", a duet with Jessica Lea Mayfield. Second single, "Cold Air", came out with an accompanying music video reflecting the song’s sense of isolation and being on the very edge of giving in. Austin's NPR station KUTX premiered third single "Pick Up The Pieces" with a Song of the Day feature along with the accompanying music video, praising "both'll captivate you right off the bat with its brooding, sweet-but-sinister style".
